    Beryl remains a category 5 hurricane with 160 mph maximum sustained winds.

    Beryl is expected to make a direct hit on Jamaica tomorrow as a major hurricane.

      I think that article is a bit out of date. It’s a bit rainy and windy in Jamaica but nowhere near hurricane force. It hit at 1am and was briefly very rainy but has calmed a lot since it devastated SVG and Grenada.

        According to NOAA the expected arrival time of tropical storm force winds in Jamaica is 8am-2pm EDT, with hurricane force winds to follow:

        Although it has dropped from Category 5 down to Category 4.

          Correct, at the time of writing Beryl is off the SE of Jamaica projected to hit (on the south side of the island) around 11 Eastern [0]. It will still be a Cat4 then.

        15-minute-old radar images show only the leading rain bands over Jamaica, storm proper still at sea and headed toward the island.
