    Question: are there any lawyers here, to speculate on the consequences if Google adding modest warnings to their gift cards? Would that be a "safe good deed"? Or would it attract "the warning proves that they knew about the problem, and obviously they should have done MORE..." punishment?

    How are scammers cashing out the cards? That seems like a really critical piece of how to stop this scam.

      Selling to other people (cheaper store credit),

      selling subscriptions that can be bought with play store credit (youtube music, premium, etc.),

      and most notably you can donate it directly to a streamer on youtube, or a channel membership.

      Multiply by some depreciation factor and voila its still a lot of money in a developing country.
